A Magical Day at Mitton Hall: Peter and Phil’s Wedding
There’s always a sense of anticipation when you film at a venue for the first time, and Mitton Hall didn’t disappoint. As someone who’s captured love stories at Holmes Mill and Eaves Hall—Mitton’s sister venues—I was buzzing with excitement for this one. And what a debut it was!
Peter and Phil’s wedding was nothing short of spectacular. Despite the persistent rain that hung over the Ribble Valley for most of the day, this celebration shone brighter than the sun ever could. We were blessed with a short, perfectly timed dry spell that allowed us to sneak outside for some stunning couple shots and a few group photos. It’s like the weather knew it had to give us just one golden moment.
A Love Story in Full Bloom
Peter, a talented florist who knows the wedding industry like the back of his hand, transformed Mitton Hall into a floral wonderland. Every corner was adorned with breathtaking arrangements—lush greenery and bold, vibrant colours that perfectly reflected Peter and Phil’s personality as a couple. It was the kind of artistry that made you stop and stare.
Phil, meanwhile, brought his own touch of stardust to the day. As a TV producer for shows like Doctor Who and Coronation Street, he’s no stranger to creating unforgettable moments. This knack for drama and storytelling was clear throughout the day, from the heartfelt readings to the beautifully choreographed ceremony. And, speaking of readings, when you’ve got David Tennant and Michelle Collins delivering them, you know it’s going to be a showstopper. Their words were as heartfelt and captivating as you’d imagine, drawing laughter and tears in equal measure.
Two Ceremonies, Twice the Emotion
The day was unique in so many ways, not least because Peter and Phil opted for two ceremonies. The first was an intimate, legal ceremony in the morning—a quiet moment of commitment just for them. Later in the day, they invited their almost 200-strong guest list to witness a celebrant-led extravaganza. This second ceremony was packed with personal touches, including multiple readings and a traditional handfasting. It was a beautiful blend of tradition, modernity, and individuality.
Challenges and Triumphs
Every wedding comes with its challenges, and Peter and Phil’s was no exception. Mitton Hall’s romantic, moody interiors are a dream for ambience but can be tricky for videography, especially on a rainy day. My equipment—and years of experience—definitely earned their keep! The venue was bustling with guests, making it one of the busiest weddings I’ve ever captured. Yet, those challenges only added to the sense of achievement when everything came together so perfectly.
Dancing the Night Away
As the day turned to night, the energy only ramped up. The dance floor at Peter and Phil’s wedding might just take the crown for the liveliest of 2024. From heartfelt first dances to full-on dance-offs, it was a celebration of love, joy, and togetherness that was utterly infectious.
Mitton Hall, Peter and Phil, and a guest list filled with stars and smiles—it was a day to remember in every way. For me, it was a privilege to be part of their story and to capture the magic of their first day as a married couple.
