Laura and Jack were one of my original couples, from when I started my journey as a wedding videographer. When they originally reached out, I hadn’t filmed a single wedding and I was relying primarily on my non wedding videography portfolio. I am forever thankful for the trust they placed in me and despite having to postpone the wedding by 12 months due to COVID 19 restrictions, the date quickly came by.
On what turned out to be one of the hottest days of the year, and oh my it was hot, Laura and Jack finally tied the knot at the Holiday Inn, Leeds Brighouse.
The day started early and I took the opportunity to fly my drone before the wind picked up, I got some beautiful shots of the venue and surrounding area to give context to the venue’s location. Straight after I headed to the bride’s room where she was getting her hair done with her lovely and friendly bridesmaids. Laura had decided to take on the task of doing her own makeup on the day as this is something she was passionate about. Soon after I arrived the lovely Ingrid from IG Time Photography started her day.
It was a strangely relaxed morning, the bride and her bridesmaids were super happy, fun and relaxed, and I think that really set the tone for the rest of the day.
After I had most of the coverage I needed of the bride (and before she got into her dress), Ingrid and I dropped by the groom to get some getting ready shots of him, his groomsman and his Dad. The atmosphere in the room was a bit more tense, although everyone appeared to be having fun. The whisky was flowing to help calm their nerves. We didn’t impose for too long as I felt our presence was adding to the Groom’s anxiety.
Laura & Jack decided not to exchange letters and read them on the morning of the wedding for inclusion to their wedding film, instead they had written their own vows to read in front of their friends and family. A beautiful addition and one I don’t see enough.
The couple had two portrait sessions; the first one was earlier on in the day, the light was pretty strong and unflattering, but we found some nice shade amongst the trees at the venue to get some nice and intimate couple portrait shots. Later in the day, the clouds started to roll over and created some beautifully soft light. It was at this time the photographer and I took the opportunity to take them back out for more portrait shots.
Ingrid and I worked really well together, communicating what we each needed to ensure the couple had the best experience possible.
It was great to finally meet Laura & Jack in person and it was a pleasure to spend the day with them, their friends and family.
When it came to editing the wedding film; I took the opportunity to focus on the fact that it was a very hot day. I found a weather forecast from the area on the day and used the audio to introduce the wedding film, along with visuals to reinforce the weather. I used the audio from the personal vows and some of the speeches throughout the video to better tell the unique story of Laura & Jack rather relying solely on a background song. Additionally I used carefully selected sound effect and ambient sound from my camera at points to better draw the viewer into the film.
I am extremely happy how their wedding film turned out and hope Laura & Jack can look back on it for years to come, and I am confident it will bring back a flood of memories of the day they got married.
Thank you for trusting me Laura & Jack, you were amazing and it was truly a pleasure filming your wedding.

Wow wow wow! We are absolutely blown away by our wedding films!
Booking a videographer is the best decision we ever made, if you are considering it...do it! Chris is amazing, he is so professional but friendly and personable. He took the time to truly understand us as a couple, to find out what we wanted and my god did he deliver!
The only negative is that I cannot stop crying at our video. When we booked Chris, he had never done a wedding but we just knew he would be amazing because of the passion he has.
We can't thank you enough Chris, we will be forever grateful that we have such a beautiful video to capture the cherished memories.
